Point Roberts, WA

This newly constructed home is a beach vacation home. The clients wanted to have a traditional home without the dark serious color scheme and antiques that one might expect to find. Instead they chose to have the designer work with light contemporary finishes and re-design the kitchen and living areas to open them up to one another.  A strong use of traditional millwork and built-ins were incorporated to keep the traditional feel.

Featured in the main living spaces is an extra wide maple plank flooring also used on the vaulted ceiling. Solid white oak doors and cabinets were used throughout as well as  granite, porcelain and natural stone tiles. The barrel vaulted ceiling in the sunroom boasts fiber optics that create a starry night effect; making the room especially enjoyable during the evening.

In the main living room a television was required; as long as it could be concealed. The flat screen was recessed in the wall above the mantle behind the artwork. With the touch of a remote control the painting retracts to reveal the television.

Outside, the lap pool and hottub are low maintenance and always at the ready if the ocean proves too cold, which is almost always!
